Hart

"Hart" is the last name of my grandmother's father's mother. I've posted a picture of a basic biography from a document my grandmother gave me.

Nov. 8 week

Hey fellow bloggers!

I spoke with my grandmother yesterday, and she told me that she found a picture of her grandparents on her father's side with the last name "Hart." I'm going to try and pick it up sometime this week to show everyone. When I spoke to her she started talking more about her biological father, which she never had a relationship. Her father(last name "Bruce"), gave my grandmother and two of her siblings up for adoption when his wife(my grandmother's mom) passed away-my grandmother was only two. She was adopted by her aunt(her biological mother's sister) and Uncle. Her other two siblings were also given to relatives of her mother. My grandmother doesn't like to mention her biological dad, because of his abandoning the three out of four kids he had with his wife. He kept his oldest son, most likely because he was old enough to help him out with things. It's interesting and sad to hear personal memories like the one pertaining to her dad, because my grandmother has always been a trooper when it came down to fending for her children, and she's always been adamant your children come first, so I know it hits a sore spot when her father is mentioned. She was raised by a banker(uncle) and school teacher aunt(who she knows as mother), so she never went a day without dinner on the table, but I think she always wonders what would've happened if her mother didn't die.

Update!

Hey bloggers!

I was googling this past weekend, and I found some information on my grandmother's side of the family-There's a website! All I had to do was google Poole, Kentucky(You don't even need the comma, LOL) and the website had a gob of information on how the city was started(by my so many removed grandparents). My grandmother hopes to go visit relatives in the near future, so I might visit too, the only problem with that is this project would be over by then, WAH! Some people like Trent(cough, cough) have all the luck! -_-

Here's a link to my KIN'S website!

wikipedia sandbox article

I'm doing a project over genealogy. I chose to follow my ancestry through my grandmother on my mother's side. So far, I have found sites like findagrave.com and ellis island as good places to start finding information. The findagrave was not so successful as of now because I cannot seem to find a grave of a family member that has been documented on the website. Ellis Island was a useful website when searching my father's side of the family because my last name "Hezlep" is not as common as my grandmother's maiden name. It has been difficult to find useful websites that don't cost money to find information on family backgrounds-if any bloggers know of some useful websites that will help me find more information on ancestry, please post a comment. Recently I found a website about my grandmother's side of the family, her family had started the city of Poole, Kentucky. If you did a search on google for the city of Poole, one would find how the city started and who started it-John and Jane Poole. John and Jane Poole are my distant grandparents, which is interesting to know that there is a website for people to learn about the small city of Poole, Kentucky. The website shows pictures of how the town looks now, and what it looked like in the past. My grandmother grew up in this city, and with social media, my grandmother can now access her hometown through the internet. As of now, I've done a video interview of my grandmother about her ancestry and what she knows about it, I've posted images of relatives and pictures of documents where people can access information on the Poole background. Currently, I am trying to find information about the Bruce ancestry-so far I know that our genealogy can be traced back to King Bruce of Scotland. I got an image of the Bruce coat of arms, and will be posting it on my blog.

Ellis Island

I searched "Hezlep" on the Ellis Island website, and it came back with only TWO records of a Hezlep-most likely I'm related to one or both of them-don't you think? At the bottom of the blog is the URL for the two names listed as Hezlep. I recommend registering with the site, because you can check out the original records that the person you are searching for wrote on-it's pretty interesting. Registration is free, as long as you get the basic registration!
